Almost 50 Aquasprinters and their parents headed off to Ballymoney last Saturday to compete in our 2nd Forest Feast Aquasprint gala. After a 2 hour bus journey our excited young team took to the water for their warmup under the watchful eye of our coach Ita O’Hara
Even though this was only the second time most of these children had competed, they were all so professional in their approach to their swims. All children listened carefully to coaches and mentors and all races ran so smoothly as a result. The swimmers swam hard and put a huge effort into every race they swam. The improvement in some of our swimmers since the last gala was evident to all.
After a very exciting competition, with lots of cheering and close finishes, Ballymoney came out victorious with a scoreline of 221 to Sliabh Beagh’s 179.
A lovely reception followed, where our two captains, Caoimhe and Éanna spoke confidently thanking all swimmers, Ballymoney club, coaches and parents and our sponsor Forest Feast for supporting the gala
The next Aquasprint gala for these 7-12 year olds will take place on April 13th against Lecale Swimming Club.
Sliabh Beagh held its first gala of the season on Saturday 7th January. We welcomed a team from Portadown to Monaghan and both sides were delighted with how our swimmers competed. Portadown won comfortably and we wish them well for the rest of the season.
Many Sliabh Beagh swimmers were competing for the first time – some of these children are very young – and they swam extremely well.
We were very impressed with the support we got from our parents too and they all helped out both at the poolside and afterwards at the beautiful reception. Thanks to forest feast for supporting the aquasprint league this year – we are delighted with our new tee-shirts too.
