Sliabh Beagh travelled to Magherafelt on Saturday 3rd November to face the Mid Ulster swimming club in the third fixture in the PTL competition. Swimmers along with their coaches and supporters departed Monaghan in great numbers on Saturday afternoon to compete in their second away fixture of this campaign. It was straight down to business on arrival and there was no evidence of Halloween having taken its toll on this group of swimmers!
The determination shown by the younger swimmers in their relay races was fantastic matched also by the more senior members who gave it their all. It was then on to the individual races where yet again all of the swimmers performed with great focus and spirit. Mid Ulster were strong opposition and all races were very close, the supporters in the gallery got to see a great competition. They left nothing in the pool apart from the odd swimming hat. Afterwards Mid Ulster proved to be great hosts with the refreshments they provided, the captains from both clubs gave great speeches and then the results were announced. Mid Ulster 515 points Sliabh Beagh 608, a hat-trick of wins! Home or away makes no difference, Sliabh Beagh are fast becoming the Man City of the swimming world. Thanks to all the supporters who made the journey and cheered on the team from the gallery. Thanks to all the coaches and volunteers who helped out and made the gala run so smoothly. Thanks to our coach driver for getting us there and back, the journey home seemed shorter. The bar has now been set so roll on the next PTL gala at home to East Cavan on the 26th January 2019. Go Sliabh Beagh.
