Bangor Long Course Open Gala

On Saturday 14th January, sixteen Sliabh Beagh swimmers attended their first long course (50m pool) gala of the season at the Aurora Aquatic Complex, Bangor.  This gala was seen as an introduction to the long course season and the coaches in attendance were pleased with some technical improvements by the swimmers, particularly in the breaststroke events. They agreed however that overall fitness and familiarity with the long course pool is required.

Swimmers who attended the Bangor LC Gala produced some very good swims with most achieving pb’s and some picking up silverware which was a nice bonus.

Those swimmers who represented the club were: Katie Bowden, Leon & James Campbell, Ciaran Deasy, John Donnolly, Colin Gorman, Daniel Madden, Claragh, Cillian & Alannah McGahon, Sheenagh McKenna, Megan McShane, Emer Sheridan, Mathew & Hannah Skeath & Darcy Walker.

Training in the 50m pool in Magherafelt, Derry has now begun and this will lead up to the Ulster Age Group Championships in April.  A sustained effort is now required from the swimmers and the coaching staff to prepare for this and all forthcoming events in 2017.
