All roads led to lurgan last Friday 6th June for the Forest Feast Aquasprint Group C Final. This was a three way final between Sliabh Beagh, City of Belfast and Lecale in Downpatrick, the winners of which would result in promotion into Group B. As always the Sliabh Beagh supporters were out in full colour with lots of encouragement from the Senior and intermediate swimmers from the side line.  On arrival in Lurgan the team were greeted by the sponsors Forest Feast and a representative from Swim Ulster.  As expected in this competition the races were fast and furious but after the first relays Sliabh Beagh had edged ahead.  Our swimmers were able to maintain this lead in their individual races showing good technique even under pressure, in particular under water starts.  Going into the final relays Sliabh Beagh had a comfortable lead, despite this all swimmers dug deep and and every relay race was fought for with some nail biting finishes! The final score was Sliabh Beagh: 324,  Lecale: 266, City of Belfast: 256.  This was a tremendous achievement for the club which can be put down to team work from all the Aquasprint swimmers who have swam throughout the year.   A special thank you to our coaches; Linda, Dana and Phillipa, for their commitment to the team.   Also thanks to the parents of our swimmers who volunteered their time to help out at the final and at the galas through the year, and for those who supported the team in other ways.

The end of year Aquasprint outing will take place in GR8 on Sunday 22nd June at 4pm with fun, food, and presentation of medals, full details to follow by text.

Community Games County Final

Sliabh Beagh swimmers are looking forward to the community games final at Coral leisure swimming pool next Sunday 15th June at 5pm.  It is hoped that all swimmers will make the final and indeed qualify for Athlone later in the summer.

An Information stand by the Sliabh Beagh Club will be on display at the Community Games County final evening.   Anyone interested in improving their swimming technique and joining a growing successful swimming club should come along to the information stand and find out how they can become a member.
