Leinster Division One Swimming Gala;
Sliabh beagh ASC sent 6 swimmers to the Leinster Division One swim gala at the NAC in Dublin on June 2, 3, & 4th. The excellent quality of swims was quite noticeable as our swimmers head into the home stretch of their season. This was also evident in the personal best times made across the three days, and by a number of our swimmers making it into the finals. Well done to our swimmers, namely:
Faolan Cambell: Silver medal in 800 m free and final of 100 Backcrawl
Kyle Crean Mc Kenna: Final of 100 Breaststroke.
Jamie Sheridan: Final of 100 Fly.
Also well done to Sheenagh Mc Kenna,Caolan Roberts and Emer Sheridan.
Free Swimming Lessons;
Sliabh Beagh Asc, Monaghan Sports Partnership and Monaghan Leisure Complex are teaming up to offer free swimming classes to children for 1 hour on the following dates:
Tuesday 11th, Thursday 13th, Tuesday 18th & Thursday 20th July. The class will be for swimmers who are at Level 4 / 5 or above. The class will be from 5 to 6 pm.
The purpose of these classes is to give swimmers an opportunity to experience swimming in a different environment, try out a few new skills and see if they would like to develop their swimming, for a lifelong healthy activity. Club Record Gala:
The Club Record gala will be held on Sunday 25th June from 7 – 10am. Swimmers will have an opportunity to swim in the specific gala record races or the alternate races that are more suitable for developing swimmers. So to have a chance to compete and set a record, or gain experience from watching the more senior swimmers in action and also trying out in your level of race, sign up on the entry sheets displayed on the Club Notice Board. If you are unsure about the event you should swim in, talk to your coach in the next few days. Entries to be in by Thursday 22nd June – No late entries. All information and entry lists are on the Club noticeboard at the swimming pool.
