Emily and Sean attend Triathlon Ireland Youth Participation day

Two Sliabh Beagh swimmers attended the Tri Irelands Youth Participation Day in Castlepark in Dalkey last Sunday. The purpose of this day is to identify merging young talent who are interested in competing in Triathlons. The age range was from 11 to 17 yrs and Tri Ireland provided expert coaching on the day to these prospective athletes. Eamon Tilly from TI was on hand to give his advice. The athletes were put through their paces across all three disciplines, with a lot of emphasis on form, drills and technique. Practice issues such as mounting and dismounting the bicycle during the transition phase was covered, with time trials in running and cycling completed on the day. Our young swimmers hope to be accepted onto The Youth Participation Programme, offers will be e-mailed during the week to the lucky candidates.
