Sliabh Beagh Compete at National Aquatic Centre Gala

Sliabh Beagh continues their season with our swimmers competing at the NAC in Dublin on June 7th.  The Nac Longcourse gala gave a number of our swimmers their first experience in a 50M pool, and they took up the challenge well!

Katie Bowden achieved PB’s in all of her events.  Cliona Sheridan, Sheenagh Mc Kenna , Hanna and Matthew Skeath all swam for the first time in a 50M pool and did really well!  Our senior and Intermediate swimmers Nathan Shields and Leon Campbell have experience in longcourse swimming and used that experience to their advantage.  Well done everyone!

Sliabh Beagh had a great final against Cookstown and Lurgan on Friday night. It was a very exciting competition with a lovely atmosphere.  Cookstown organised the gala in Banbridge leisure centre and it was very well organised.  All teams had a great set of parents who carried out all the jobs.  The children swam their hearts out and each child did his or her team proud.  The competition was tight but in the end Cookstown emerged victorious, with Sliabh Beagh second and Lurgan 3rd.  The final score was Cookstown 310, SB 288, Lurgan 242.  Thanks to Forest Feast for sponsoring the competition, thanks to Banbridge for the use of their pools, to Cookstown for organising the competition and to both teams for a great gala.  Well done team, enjoy the summer break!
