Sliabh Beagh ASC Sponsored by F.A.L Contracts Ltd
The above national competition commencing on Wednesday of this week will continue until Sunday evening the 19 July. By then, we hope to have done a good job and along with the Monaghan GAA County team, bring some silverware back to the county. This is the culmination of a progressive and successful season for all our swimmers. Hard work has been ever present but so too has been a fantastic attitude and a calm countenance. To date these elements have served us well.
This gala will present new challenges and every swim will be a difficult task, as we will not only be competing against the best in Ireland, but also teams from UK, Europe, USA and Asia. Nevertheless we will go forth with confidence in ourselves and see what our performance brings.
The eleven representing the club are Shauna McGahon, Colin Gorman, Nathan Shields, Conor Comiskey, Alannah Leonard, Leon Campbell, Peter O’Hara, Clara McGahon, Caragh Leonard, Eoghan Keenan and Ciaran Deasy. These athletes will compete in the full variety of FINA strokes and distances including 50m, 100, 200, 400, 800 right through to the 1,500m event.
The club wish the swimmers every success. This will range from achieving new Personal Best times, to making finals and hopefully standing on the rostrum as a medal winner. This final piece will be a real challenge, but we will strive to get there. Our preparation has been good, the swimmers are dedicated and talented and are working hard to improve the technical elements all the time.
Confidence in one’s preparation, belief in one’s ability, never doubting your capacity to perform and swimming hard all the way to the touch pad, will see all of our supreme swimmers, be the best they can be and represent their club, county, family and team with pride and success. Good luck to all!!
