Last Sunday 9th February seven swimmers from Sliabh Beagh competed at the National Aquatic Centre in the Irish Minor Schools. The Sliabh Beagh swimmers put in a strong performance with all seven swimmers reaching the final which was a massive achievement, given there were over 400 competitors. Claragh Mc Gahon won gold in the 50m fly with a text book finish that left her competitors wondering what had happened. Claragh also got third in the 100IM. Connor Comiskey had a great day, winning gold in the 50m freestyle with two metres to spare over his rivals and second in the 50m Butterfly. Caragh leonard also had a fantastic meet, winning gold in the 50m Free and silver in a tightly fought 50m Backstroke. All other Sliabh Beagh competitors produced Personal Bests in their finals. Allison Gorman 50m Fly and 50m Back, Cillian Mc Gahon, 50 free and 50 Fly, Matthew Comiskey 50m Breastroke and 50m Free and Caolan Roberts 50m Backstroke. Well done everyone!

The final development gala takes place in larne on 9th March. This gala is suitable for novice swimmers and those who wish to gain times to swim in the Qualifying galas. Swimmers must be registered with Swim Ulster, please check with club secretary if your child in registered. Full details of programme on club notice board and Web site. Parents should check with their childs coach when selecting strokes. Closing date for entries 13th February.

The coaches have selected this gala as a club gala. They are encouraging as many new swimmers as possible to try out this gala. Once again there are 50m available in all strokes. Full details on club notice board.
