Swim Ulster Summer Qualifying Meet
The Swim Ulster Summer Qualifying Meet was held over three days from 26 to 28 May in the very impressive Bangor Aurora 50m Olympic standard swimming pool and a full Olympic Programme was offered.
Darcy Walker achieved the required Swim Ulster standards in Development Meets enabling her to enter the Summer Qualifier. Swimming Long Course was no obstacle for Darcy as she smashed her previous PBs and achieved three more Irish Age Groups (IAG) Division 2 qualifying times to add to the five other qualifying she had previously achieved.
Darcy’s swim times:
- 200m LC Freestyle 2.52.05 – PB 8.30
- 200m LC Backstroke 3.12.88 – PB 8.63
- 400m LC Freestyle 6.08.37 – PB 23.35
In the run up to IAG Division 2 in University Limerick from 29 June to 2 July Darcy’s attention is firmly focused on training at Sliabh Beagh ASC to prepare for the eight events she has qualified for.
Also attending was Kyle Crean Mc Kenna. Kyle had a very successful gala taking home three Bronze medals in the 50M Backstroke, 50M Breaststroke and Bronze in the 200M Breaststroke. . This was very good considering he just moved up to Under 14 in May and was his first event in this category. Well done Kyle.
Silver Medals for Sliabh Beagh Aquasprint Team
Sliabh Beagh Aquasprint team travelled to Waves Leisure Centre, Lurgan on Friday night 2nd June to compete in the final of the Aquasprint 2017. This was a 3-way final with Mid-Ulster, Sliabh Beagh and Ballymoney competing.
The competition was very exciting and some races were nail-bitingly close. In the end Sliabh Beagh was very happy to come a comfortable second.
The final result was: Mid Ulster: 331 pts, Sliabh Beagh 274 pts and Ballymoney 235.
Forest Feast sponsored the event and supplied the beautiful medals.
Well done to all our swimmers represented the club in a very sporting manner.
