Swim Ulster Long Course Championships 2022

This past weekend was a busy one for some of our members. Undoubtedly Darragh Hughes was the star of the weekend, swimming in 6 events, making six finals, all pb times, ending up twice on the finishers podium, it was not a shabby weekends swimming by Darragh by any stretch. Darragh got a bronze in 100Br and a silver in 50Br, 5th in 100Fr, 5th in 50Fr and 5th in 50Fly. Well done to him.

Swimmers who attended this meet along with Darragh were Aoibhin MacCinna, Rebekah Gillis, Maddie Smith, Sean Greenan, Ben Duffy and Sean McConnon. Adam Lynch had also qualified but had to pull out due to injury which was a great disappointment for Adam as he was highly seeded in this meet and would have done well.

We had some great pbs at this gala, an example would be Darragh taking over 3.5seconds off his previous best time in 100Br to win him the Bronze medal. Both Sean Greenan and Ben Duffy took 2seconds off their previous 100Fly times. We had many finalists throughout the weekend, Sean Greenan and Sean McConnon both made a final on their first Ulster LC champs gala. Aoibhín had a great gala. She came 4th in the final of the 200Back and 8th in the 100Back final. Rebekah had a great race in the 50Back finishing in 4th place in the finals. Maddie swam 200Br and finished 10th qualifying for the finals.

Coach Pearse was in attendance all weekend to encourage the swimmers, to give advice and feedback, help with warm ups and we thank him for his efforts.
