Swim Ulster Summer Meet: Success for Sliabh Beagh

The final Swim Ulster Summer Gala in Lisburn May 22-24 provided a perfect opportunity for Sliabh Beagh Swimmers to achieve qualifying times for either the Division II or Division I galas taking place in June and July, respectively.  Our swimmers did not disappoint as many hit personal best times (p.b.’s) while achieving their qualifying times.  Several swimmers also won medals in their age groups.  Overall it was a really fast swimming weekend, where the quality of the swims was evident in the faster times.  Well done team!  The results are as follows

 Matthew Comiskey got PB’s in all his strokes and Division 2 times in the 200 Breast, placing 1st, and 200 Free, placing 3rd.

Allison Gorman also got PBs all-round and Division 2 times in both the 100 Back and 200 Fly, picking up a gold medal for her efforts in the Fly.

Her brother Colin got PBs and  Division 1 times in the 400 free, finishing 1st; 200 free, second place and  100m back, also finishing 1st.

Eoghan Keenan tried the 1500 Free for the first time and got a well-deserved bronze medal. He also swam: the 200 IM (PB); 100 Free (PB); 400 IM, placing 2nd; and the 100 fly, also getting a PB.

Caoimhe Leonard got PBs in both the 100 Breast and Back.

Her sister Caragh also did well, picking up gold in both the 400 IM (PB) and the 200 Free and also getting a PB in the 50 Fly.

Emily Madden had a great swim in the 800 Free taking an astonishing 18 seconds off her time but just missed out on a PB in the 400 Free.

Eimear Mc Kenna swam strong in the 400 Free with a massive 10 sec PB. She also swam in the 100 free and 200 Back, achieving personal bests and placing 3rd

Her brother Sean who has not competed in swimming for some time came back in full force gaining PB’s in all his strokes and Division 2 times.  100 Breast; 200 Free, getting silver; and in the 100 Back, touching in 3rd place.

Oran O’ Caolain swam well in all his races: He achieved a good PB in the 100 Free, also the 100 Breast and 100 Back.

Lorcan Roberts  also swam PBs in both the 200 Free and 100 Back, getting his Div 2 times in the 200 free.

Emer Sheridan had a very successful meet she achieving PB’s in the following: 100 Breast, 3rd; 200 Free, 3rd; 100 Back 2nd  and 200 Back, placing 1st

Jamie Sheridan who unfortunately was carrying a back injury put in a brave performance in the 100 Fly finishing 1st, however he was unable to compete in the rest of the gala.

Faolan Campbell put in a strong performance in the 200 Free and 100 back achieving PB’s in both his races.

Leon Campbell had a busy weekend swimming in the 200IM PB, 100 Free PB, 200 Breast Division 1 time and 2nd place, 100 fly and 100 Breast Division 1 time.
