Well into our season Sliabh Beagh Swimmers are showing that hard work pays off! The Trojan swim gala at the NAC on March the 9th saw 16 swimmers improve their times by a whopping 145 seconds combined. The coaches were really pleased with everyone’s swims, notably the biggest drop in time was by Katie Bowden, who took 15 secs off her 100 Breaststroke. Well done to the following swimmers who competed for the first time at this level. Rhiona Kilpatrick, 50m and 100m backstroke, Hannah Skeath, 50m free and 50m fly. Congratulations to Leon Campbell and Emer Sheridan who achieved Division Two times in the 100 Breastroke and 200 freestyle respectively. Also well done to Caoimhe and Caragh Leonard who achieved Ulster Age Groups qualifying times in the 100 breaststroke and 100 backstroke. Junior and Senior AquaSprint swimmers also improved by leaps and bounds as shown by the results they achieved in their respective races. Congratulations to Ellen Mc Geough, Hazel Mc Morrow, Sheena Mc Kenna, Caolan Roberts, Lorcan Roberts, James Campbell and Gearoid Coyle. Our senior swimmers Jamie Sheridan and Nathen Shields competed in the evening session. Well done to Nathen Shields who got an Ulster Age group time in the 200IM.
A Special thank you to coach Dana who had a long day at the NAC giving feedback to all our swimmers after each race. It is up to each swimmer to take these comments back to their club session and put them into practice so that they can see further improvements in following galas.
Development Gala in Larne
Louise Gorman, Olivia Gorman and Allison Gorman travelled to Larne to compete in the Development 4 gala. This was the last gala in this Swim Ulster series. Congratulations to Allison Gorman who achieved an Ulster Age Group time in the 400 Freestyle. Also well done to Louise Gorman who improved her 400 freestyle by 11 secs and Olivia Gorman who achieved a PB in the 100 breaststroke.
Long Course Training
This weekend sees the SB swimmers travel back to Magherafelt to train in the 50m pool in preparation for the Ulster Age group Championship at the end of the month. A second session has been organised for the 23rd of March. These sessions are very important if swimmers want to do well in this competition.
